PulsePoint: What do you see as the key issues facing media buyers and sellers today and what is the IAB doing to help the industry to transform the challenges into opportunities?
Randall Rothenberg: There are several challenges facing the industry and IAB works diligently to help surmount these hurdles and drive growth. One of our key initiatives is “Making Measurement Make Sense.” It is a groundbreaking collaboration among the IAB, 4A’s, and ANA to develop cross-platform measurement standards that will simplify the planning, sale, development, and assessment of brand advertising in digital media as well as across platforms. Most recently, this fall the coalition released a five-part solution which included the shift to a “viewable” impression standard from a “served” impression standard and the introduction of an online Gross Ratings Point metric. These two principles as well as the three others provide a clear pathway for pilot tests and implementation timelines.
